Dear Penn State student entrepreneur,
We are out to find the most creative, ambitious and entrepreneurial students to come live, play and create in our community!
You have a drive and hunger.
You want to make a difference and create ventures.
Let us provide you the community of support to bring those dreams to life.
“I can’t tell you the number of times I’ve walked down in my pajamas, half dressed and found someone really interesting in my living room…” – Matt McGee (Alum, 2013)
Find the support and mentorship you need on your entrepreneurial journey
Supportive community, creative housing, and 1-on-1 mentorship to pursue your dreams.
This program was designed by local entrepreneurs who have been in your shoes. We’ve built and sold companies, social ventures, and nonprofits. We’ve spent countless late nights perfecting our pitch decks to secure investor funding. We know what it’s like to be a young entrepreneur and are excited to help you on your journey! Here’s what you’ll receive if you are accepted into the program:
Innovative Housing
Live in a double room at the co.space, a 21-person home for changemakers. We’ll match you up with other entrepreneurs to live alongside and you’ll have a team of co-conspirators to dream with late into the night.
Local Entrepreneur Mentors
Receive 1-on-1 mentorship and access to exclusive monthly meet-ups with local entrepreneurs who have built a wide array of companies. Think of this as your personal board of directors to bring your venture to life!
Creative Workspace & Support
Take advantage of 24/7 access to Happy Valley Launchbox throughout the year and special consideration in their different support programs. We’ll also be hosting collaborative programming with Launchbox at the co.space.
“I met my best friends and most creative collaborators at the co.space!” – Chris Danilo (Alum, 2015)
We’ve assembled some of our favorite entrepreneurs in town to be your personal mentor
You’ll have access to entrepreneurs who have:
- raised millions of dollars from angel investors,
- built 7- and 8- figure companies,
- sold and exited their company before the age of 30,
- led venture capital funds,
- participated in and organized accelerators around the world,
- launched successful kickstarter campaigns,
- hired and oversaw hundreds of employees,
- published books and gave viral TEDx talks.
Throughout the year, we will coordinate 1-on-1 private mentor sessions with entrepreneurs that can provide tailored guidance for your journey. The best part… this can happen in the comfort of your own home!
In addition, we will host monthly group coaching sessions over breakfast or lunch and will cover all meal expenses for you.
“Being in a house versus a dorm is totally different. In the dorm you can’t knock a wall down; here you can. There’s a lot of freedom at the co.space and that culture is infectious.” – Dustin Betz (Alum, 2013-2016)
We accept a limited number of aspiring entrepreneurs to take part in this program.
Applicants will be considered on a rolling basis until all spots are filled. For priority consideration, please submit your application early in the process.
In your application, please select Yes to “Are you interested in the Entrepreneur-in-Residence program?” and then describe your venture in the ‘Getting to Know You’ questions.
Selected candidates will pay standard rent at the co.space (click here to view what is included with rent) for a spot in a double room, but will also receive additional entrepreneurial programming support and mentorship throughout the year.
Applicants may apply with a friend or business partner.
To qualify, applicants must have an idea or venture that they plan to pursue while living in the home. This can be a for-profit company, non-profit organization, or social venture.
At least 2 of the spots will be specifically reserved for members of the Nittany Entrepreneur Society. If you are a member, please make note of this in your application.
