Spending most of last year in Germany, Dimitri had an opportunity for cultural and personal exploration. He became reasonably fluent in German. He spent both time as a student and in exploring non-student lifestyles. After volunteering on two organic farms in Germany he developed interest in promoting local produce and in the strategies and science of organic farming. He hopes to design solutions to make organic products more widespread and competitive with modern industrial farming practices.
Dimitri’s outlets for energy include designing and building machines, experiments in the kitchen, and backpacking trips. His first successful machine was a go-kart designed and built from the ground up in high school, marking the beginning of his interest in transportation engineering. He is currently interested in 3D printers. In 2013 he built a RepRap 3D Printer, and is now finalizing a design in Solidworks for a personal 3D printer that folds into its own portable case. He plans to combine his passion in the kitchen and nutrition with engineering and product design in future projects.
Dimitri is currently pursuing a Mechanical Engineering degree from Penn State, with minors in German and Engineering Entrepreneurship.
